Joe Burrow vs. Jayden Daniels: Which QB To Choose In Fantasy Football 2026?

Many fantasy managers enter their drafts planning to take a quarterback late. It's a great strategy—when it works. But even the most QB-avoidant personality can be tempted by the likes of Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels, two of the most talented and cool quarterbacks in both real life and fantasy.

For those considering clicking on a QB in Round 6, choosing between Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels will prove to be extremely difficult. Let's examine how this pair of star QBs get their fantasy points and which one is the better 2026 fantasy football draft pick.

Who Should You Draft In 2026 Fantasy Football, Joe Burrow or Jayden Daniels?

The Case for Joe Burrow

Consensus ADP: 67.5 (QB5)

Joe Burrow is not the dude you want to see in an opposing lineup when your fantasy season is on the line, but the question is whether he'll actually be on the field when the fantasy playoffs roll around.

Burrow missed around half of the 2023 and 2025 seasons with wrist and toe injuries that required surgery. And, of course, he was knocked out of his rookie season in 2020 with an ACL tear. There's a general assumption that the Bengals' poor offensive line is to blame, but aside from the ACL these weren't exactly the line's fault—OK, the wrist kind of was. Burrow's play style and willingness to extend plays does invite some contact, but it's important to realize that the Bengals' offensive line has quietly improved in recent years and returns all five starters in 2026 from what was a quality pass-blocking unit.

When Burrow is on the field, he is clearly one of the NFL's best QBs. The 29-year-old has finished as the QB7, QB4, QB25 (10 games), QB3 and QB29 (8 games) since his rookie year. Last season, Burrow returned from the toe injury to post 20.6 points per game from Weeks 13-18—good for QB3 during that stretch and a figure that would have tied Trevor Lawrence for QB6 on the season.

You have to go back to 2023 to find a significant stretch of games where Burrow wasn't a borderline top-5 fantasy QB or better unless he was stuck on the sideline with a clipboard in his hand. The argument for believing in Burrow as a fantasy asset is simple: He's always been great when on the field, his offensive line is improving (right tackle Amarius Mims and left guard Dylan Fairchild are ascending talents), and he has Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins at his disposal in an aggressive offense opposite a poor defense.

The Case for Jayden Daniels

Consensus ADP: 66.8 (QB4)

Jayden Daniels arrived in Washington in 2024 fresh off a Heisman Trophy and promptly brought the franchise to the brink of its first Super Bowl appearance since 1992. While the rookie fell short in the NFC title game, his fantasy performance did not disappoint across 17 starts, coming in as QB5 with 21.5 points per game.

Daniels' rushing prowess raises his fantasy floor to a level that few can match. His 891 rushing yards as a rookie trailed only Lamar Jackson's 915. His per-game output did fall from 52.4 in 2024 to 39.7 last season, but he left three of his seven starts early due to injury. There's no reason to expect less rushing output from the 25-year-old in 2026.

There are a couple of questions for Daniels to answer as a fantasy asset this summer, however. The first is whether he's fully healthy after dislocating his elbow in Week 9 and aggravating it in Week 14. These are minor concerns considering it was his non-throwing arm, but we do have to wonder whether such a lean player can continue to run the ball so much without getting hurt again. At 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Daniels is two inches taller than Lamar but looks even more vulnerable in the open field. Until he finishes another full and healthy season, we're going to wonder if Daniels is durable. Recall that he also dealt with a hamstring strain early in the season.

The second question is for the Washington front office: Who is Daniels supposed to throw the ball to aside from Terry McLaurin? The Commanders were a rumored landing spot for free agent Brandon Aiyuk, Daniels' former college teammate at Arizona state. But Aiyuk torched that possibility with a bunch of unhinged social media posts. Stefon Diggs appears to be a natural fit, but the clock is ticking on his potential arrival as training camp looms. Daniels' current WR2 is rookie Antonio Williams. Chig Okonkwo is an intriguing pass-catching tight end, but just joined the squad this spring after four middling seasons in Tennessee.

Daniels is good enough to elevate this questionable group, which we expect to receive an addition. And even though the rushing is bankable, it would be nice to know your young fantasy QB is going to get some help from established playmakers.

Should You Draft Joe Burrow or Jayden Daniels In 2026 Fantasy Drafts?

This one is an extremely tough call, and I should disclose that I'm an idiot Bengals fan, but I'll take Burrow over Daniels for 2026. If Daniels gets through the season without injury, I'll probably lean his way in 2027.

The X-factor here is the Bengals' atrocious defense. The team made big moves to improve last year's third-worst scoring unit, but unless it can jump from No. 30 to No. 15 or so, Burrow, Chase and Higgins are going to need to do a lot of work this year. It's simply a recipe for pedal-to-the-floor offense, and we know Burrow (when healthy) is up for it. Just two seasons ago he threw for nearly 5,000 yards with 43 TD passes and scored 2 more on the ground en route to a QB3 season.

With only a single season of high-end fantasy output, there's simply a touch more uncertainty with Daniels. And, again, he is awesome. If you prefer your fantasy QB to have an astronomical rushing floor, make the click and enjoy. Just don't be surprised to see Burrow throw for 4 TDs against you at some point.
